John Douglass, Jr., a sixth-generation funeral director, was raised in Reading. He graduated from Reading Memorial High School, class of 1984, and then went on to attend and graduate from Maine Maritime Academy in Castine, Maine, class of 1988. John then went on to attend and graduate from New England Institute in Boston, class of 1989. He currently lives in Reading with his wife, Dr. Laurie Douglass, and their two children, Lacey and Sean. John is very active in the Reading community, belonging to the Reading Rotary Club, Chamber of Commerce, and Good Samaritan Lodge. John mostly likes to spend his time with family and friends.

John Douglass (senior), a fifth-generation funeral director, was born and raised in Everett, Massachusetts, and then moved to Lexington, Massachusetts, where he graduated from Lexington High School in 1954. He went on to attend and graduate from Denison University in Ohio in 1958. He then attended and graduated from New England Institute in Boston in 1960. He then began working with his older brother, Arthur Douglass, at their funeral home in Lexington. That same year, he opened the Douglass Funeral in Reading, Massachusetts, which he still owns and operates with his son, John. He currently resides in Reading.
