Theresa L. Symes a resident of Reading, Massachusetts for over 60 years, passed away peacefully on December 28, 2021 at her home.

The daughter of Thomas and Lillian Keogan, Theresa was born in Melrose, Massachusetts on August 14, 1938. Theresa was a graduate of Melrose High School Class of 1957 and participated in sports playing field hockey for Melrose High.

She went on to work at Avco Industries for several years before leaving to start her family. Theresa loved spending time in the White Mountains of New Hampshire with her husband and family. She also enjoyed many trips to Disney World with her husband, children and grandchildren.

Theresa was predeceased by her beloved husband Dennis Symes whom she married in 1959. Theresa and Dennis had been married for 62 years. She was the devoted mother to two sons, Michael Symes and his wife Patty, Shannon Symes and his wife Diane and two daughters Denise Symes and her cherished daughter Jacqueline Sawyer who passed away in 2020.  She was the loving Nana to Elton and his wife Shana (Carlson) Sawyer, Sarah Sawyer, Abigail and Tucker Symes and Jaxson Symes.  Theresa was predeceased by her sister Sandra Russel of North Carolina and her brother Thomas Keogan of Massachusetts.

Theresa was best known for being a wonderful wife, great mother and a loving Nana as well as a devoted friend. Her memory will forever be a blessing to all who knew her and loved her.

A celebration of her life will be held at a later date.  There are no visiting hours and burial is private.
