Sally Stembridge died on May 22, 2015, at the Sawtelle Family Hospice House in Reading, MA, at the age of 87. She was born on November 17, 1927, to the late Stanley R. Stembridge, Sr. and Ruth (Manning) Stembridge. She was predeceased by her brother Stanley R. Stembridge, Jr. Sally was a life-long resident of Reading and treasured her family history of many early Reading family names including Nichols, Kendall, Damon, and Merrow. Sally graduated from Reading High School, Class of 1946, and from Boston University, Class of 1951, with a Bachelor's Degree in Liberal Arts. She worked for the Reading Public Schools and taught English there for 35 years, retiring in 1990. Sally was a voracious reader, placing mystery novels at the top of her list. Sally enjoyed her pets. Sally was predeceased by her cousin Polly Parker (Stembridge) Weaver and is survived by Polly's children, David J. Weaver and Elizabeth S. Weaver-Radcliffe, her cousin Nancy L. (Chamberlain) Longval and her children, Glenn W. Longval and Kerri L. Bickford, her cousin D. Richard Chamberlain and his children, Judith Hauswald, Brian Chamberlain, David Chamberlain, Steven Chamberlain and Betsey St. George, many neighbors and friends, and her cherished cat, Brady. Visiting hours will be held at the Douglass, Edgerley and Bessom Funeral Home, 25 Sanborn Street (corner of Woburn Street) in Reading on Monday, June 1, 2015 from 10-12PM with internment to follow at the Laurel Hill Cemetery.
