Ruth R. (Robinson) Martakos, a resident of Wakefield for 43 years, formerly of Lynnfield, died suddenly at her home on December 12, 2016. She was 74 years of age.

Ruth was born in Winchester, Massachusetts on January 12, 1942, the daughter of the late Howard B. and Kathleen (Merritt) Robinson. Ruth worked as a medical lab technician for the Malden Hospital then the Whidden Hospital for several years retiring in 2012. She was a member and Junior Past Queen of the Daughters of the Nile, Oppela Temple #50 in Wakefield and a life member and Past Royal Matron of the Corona Court, Supreme Council Order of the Amaranth.

Ruth was the devoted mother of Karen E. Martakos and her partner Christopher Blue of Arlington. Cherished sister of Elaine Hornbeck of Pelham NH, Howard B. Robinson, Jr. of Amherst NH and the late Diane Robinson.

Visiting hours will be held on Saturday, December 17, at the Douglass, Edgerley and Bessom Funeral Home 25 Sanborn St. (corner of Woburn St.) in Reading from 1:00pm-4:00pm. Funeral services and burial are private. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in Ruth's memory to the American Cancer Society 30 Speen St. Framingham, MA 01701.
