Ronald Charles Beckett of Wakefield, formerly of Reading, died September 24, 2014 at the Newton-Wellesley Hospital in Newton. He was 65 years of age. Ronald was born in Melrose, Massachusetts on October 25, 1948. He is the son of Ruth D. (Lofberg) Beckett of Reading and the late Arthur E. Beckett. Ronald attended Reading schools and was a graduate of Reading Memorial High School class of 1966. He attended Babson College, where he played hockey, and graduated in 1970. In the mid 1970's Ronald was a reservist with the Army Corps of Engineers. He was also a licensed Real Estate Broker. Besides being survived by his mother, Ronald is the devoted brother of Wesley A. Beckett and his wife Patricia Murphy of Wakefield and Wayne A. Beckett of Reading. He is also survived by several loving cousins. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, September 27, at the Douglass, Edgerley and Bessom Funeral Home 25 Sanborn St. (corner of Woburn St.), Reading, at 11 am. Burial will follow at Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, Peabody. Funeral home visiting hours will be held on Friday from 4-8 pm. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in Ronald's memory to the Mass.
