Obituary

Patrick Edward Ginley, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and businessman, passed peacefully on May 9, 2026, at Kaplan Family Hospice House. Pat was born on June 15, 1938, in Cleveland, the only child of Patrick and Anne Ginley, both proud Irish immigrants who predeceased him.

Pat lived a full and meaningful life defined by hard work, dedication, and love for those closest to him. He attended St. Edward High School before graduating from the University of Notre Dame. He was a proud member of the Fighting Irish family and loved collecting anything that reminded him to "Play Like a Champion Today." After college, it quickly became clear that Pat was a salesman through and through. He began his career in retail, but it was in the seafood industry where he truly found his calling. Over the decades, he built a respected career marked by leadership, determination, and an unwavering work ethic. Eventually, Pat moved with his wife and growing family to the greater Boston area to continue pursuing his dreams. He concluded his remarkable career with North Coast Seafoods, continuing to work well into his eighties.

A longtime resident of Topsfield, Pat, was known most affectionately by his family as "Papa." Beneath his tall and tough exterior was a deeply caring man with a generous heart and an enduring devotion to his family. He is survived by his beloved wife of 65 years, Mary Judith Ginley of Topsfield, Massachusetts, and by his children: Patrick of Beverly, Massachusetts; Michael (Jennifer) of Salem, Massachusetts; Sean (Kristin) of Franklin, Massachusetts; Colleen (Michael) of Beverly, Massachusetts; and William, Paul, Timothy (Meagan), and Daniel (Jennifer), all of Topsfield, Massachusetts. Pat also leaves behind his cherished grandchildren: Kyle (Erica), Meg (Justin), Connor (Emily), Owen, Jack, Kate, Bridgette, Michael, and Liam. He found tremendous joy in his five great-grandchildren: Harper, Bo, Tucker, Rowan, and Will, and extended family in Ohio.

In his earlier years, Pat loved boating and fishing on Lake Erie. He enjoyed working in the yard, driving around town, listening to music, watching sports and movies, and firing up the grill for family barbecues. Though he appreciated good food, he also had a secret affection for fast food and an undeniable sweet tooth. Pat leaves behind a legacy of resilience, dedication, and love. He taught his family the value of hard work, perseverance, and showing up every day. His family will honor him with a Celebration of Life with details to be announced.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Pat's memory may be made to Care Dimensions in support of the compassionate care provided by the Kaplan Family Hospice House.
