Norma S. (Smith) MacBrien, 83, of Nashua NH, former long-time resident of Reading, MA, and Belmont, NH, died peacefully on July, 19, 2015, surrounded by her family. She was the beloved wife of the late William E. MacBrien, with whom she shared 59 years of marriage until his passing in May of 2010.

Norma was born in Everett, MA on September 8, 1931. She received her education in Reading and was a graduate of Reading High School class of 1950.

In addition to being a devoted wife and mother, Norma was employed for many years in the Reading Town Clerks Office, until her retirement in 1987.

She is survived and will be deeply missed by her children William W. MacBrien and his wife Natalie of Methuen, MA, Kerry Adams and her husband Richard of N. Chelmsford, MA, Andrew R. MacBrien and his wife Rose of N. Chelmsford, MA, Scott C. MacBrien of N. Reading, MA and Peter E. MacBrien of Belmont, NH, her sisters Eleanor French of Nashua, NH and Stephanie Barry of Chelmsford, MA, 11 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

In accordance with her wishes, there will be no calling hours. A graveside service will be held on THURSDAY July 23, 2015 at 12 PM at Laurel Hill Cemetery, Reading, MA. Donations may be made in Norma's memory to the charity of your choosing.
