Matthew Robert Montagna of Reading,MA passed away November 13th, 2017, he was 35. He leaves behind two beautiful sons, Shane Matthew and Gavin Joseph Montagna, both of Reading. He was the beloved son of Robert and Amy (Lawlor) Montagna of Reading. The oldest of five children, he is survived by his siblings Joseph Montagna of Oakville, CT and Rachel, Laura and Nicholas Montagna all of Reading. He is also survived by a niece Annabelle Cappello.

He was the grandson of the late Robert and Lorelle Lawlor of Reading, and John and Mary Montagna of Waterbury, CT, and the great-nephew of Mimi Montagna of Oakville, CT. He was the nephew of Erik and Edie Kramer of Reading, John and Leisha Lawlor of Reading, Andy and Carrie Graham of North Andover, and Jennifer Lawlor of North Andover.

He will be remembered for his love of Boston sports, how he enjoyed playing baseball and football as a youth and fishing with extended family. His kind heart and undeniable love for friends and family will be greatly missed but never forgotten.


Matthew's funeral will be held from the Douglass, Edgerley and Bessom Funeral Home 25 Sanborn St. (corner of Sanborn St.)Reading on Friday, November 17 at 9:00AM followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Agnes Church 186 Woburn St. Reading at 10:00AM Burial will follow at Wood End Cemetery in Reading. Visiting hours will be held at the funeral home on Thursday evening from 4:00-8:00PM.
