Apr 28, 1958 — Sep 13, 2022
Reading
Mary Ellen Reno, a resident of both Reading, MA and St. Pete Beach, FL, died peacefully after a long illness, with her husband, sons, and brothers at her bedside at the Lahey Clinic in Burlington, MA on September 13, 2022.
Mary had an incredible love of life, unparalleled personal drive, and unselfish personality that inspired innumerable people across both her personal and professional lives. She overcame several serious health issues over the course of her life, all while bringing up her family, attaining an MBA at Harvard University, and serving as chief executive officer of her family's business, Innovation Associates (iA) in Johnson City, NY. At home, Mary was a tremendous cook, gardener, and seamstress, especially at Halloween, making costumes for her boys.
As CEO of iA from 1998 to 2020, she oversaw the company's rise to become a leader in high-volume pharmacy automation. Her dedication, love, and tireless work ethic for iA provided countless opportunities for so many people throughout New York's Southern Tier and beyond. Industry leading publication, Drug Store News, awarded Mary a Career Achievement Award in 2019 as one of the Top Women in Health, Wellness and Beauty. The award was based on her over two decades of performance excellence in the health care industry. She retired in April 2020 after transitioning iA company ownership to a consortium of investors.
Mary was the beloved wife of husband Jamie for over 38 years, a cherished mother to sons Sean and Chris and his wife Taylor, and special "daughter" Julia Kisla-Taylor and husband Travis. She is the loving grandmother to granddaughters Josephine and Sophia, and grandson Jax. She is predeceased by her parents Joseph (Harry) and Nancy Boyer, and sister Kathleen George. She is survived by brothers Dr. Joseph Boyer and wife Betty (Longwood, FL), Jim Boyer (West Endicott, NY), and Harrison Boyer and wife Jill (Skaneateles, NY), and several aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews.
The Reno family is particularly grateful to the Lahey Clinic Cardiac Care Unit staff and Advent Health Orlando staff for their attentive and loving care of Mary.
A Celebration of Life will be held for Mary on October 22 with a Memorial Mass at 11:30 AM at St. James Catholic Church in Johnson City, NY, followed by a luncheon at Remlik's Grille at 1:00 PM in Binghamton, NY. Burial is private. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) in "Memory of Mary Ellen Reno" at
