Mark J. Barry of Newton, formerly of Waltham and Reading, died November 22, 2015 at the Newton-Wellesley Hospital. He was 73 years of age.

Mark was born in Winchester, Massachusetts on April 20, 1942, the son of Mary (Devaney) Barry and Leo Barry. He graduated from Bates College in 1964 with a Bachelor of Arts. He then enlisted in the US Army and after being honorably discharged he attended and graduated from Northeastern University with a Master of Arts in 1967. He then went on to study at Suffolk Law School and later to work at Barnes and Jones Manufacturing Company. Mark thoroughly enjoyed reading about history, nature, and fitness. He was a generous contributor to a variety of charities and was known by his friends and family as a "gentleman" with a wonderful sense of humor. His humor and smile will be sorely missed by his four children and grandson.

Mark was the devoted father of Christopher J. Barry of CA, Judy Nunan and her husband Matt of Georgetown, Craig M. Barry of NY, Jennette M. Barry of Belmont and loving grandfather of Masen Nunan of Georgetown.

His funeral will be held from the Douglass, Edgerley and Bessom Funeral Home 25 Sanborn St. (corner of Woburn St.) Reading on Wednesday November 25 at 9:30am followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Athanasius Church 300 Haverhill St. Reading at 10:30am. Funeral home visiting hours will be Tuesday from 4-8pm. Burial is private.
