Marion Garey passed away on October 4, 2014, at the age of 84. Marion was a native of Reading, but most recently resided in Peabody and Narragansett RI. Marion was born on January 31, 1930, daughter of the late Walter and Lillian Anderson. Beloved wife of DeMelle Garey with whom she shared 59 years of marriage. Mother of Alan Garey and his wife Paula of North Reading, Steve and his wife Kathy of Reading, and Cindy House and husband Bob of Danvers. Cherished sister of Barbara Gardner and her husband Robert of VA. Loving grandmother to 8 grandchildren: Michael, Jennifer, Christine, Brian, Daniel, Caroline, Mike, and Lauren.
She was a graduate of Reading High School class of 1947, graduated from Deaconess Hospital Nursing School, and received her Doctorate from Boston University where she became a professor teaching Psychiatric Nursing. Marion went on to be a professor and head of the Psychiatric Nursing program at the University of Rhode Island.
Marion was dearly loved by her family, friends, and students.
