Marie (Nickerson) Tucker, 77, of North Reading, formerly of Reading, passed away at her home on Thursday evening, March 13. She was the wife of the late Richard W. Tucker, Sr. who died in 1999.

Marie grew up in Medford, and was the daughter of the late Herbert, and the late Theresa Nickerson. She was a graduate of Medford High School, and the Somerville Hospital School of Nursing. Upon graduating from Nursing School, she worked at several local hospitals, and also as a private duty nurse. She left nursing to concentrate on raising her family.

Marie sold Mary Kay Cosmetics in her free time, and she was a 4-H Leader in Reading when her children were younger. She was a longtime supporter of EMARC, and The ARC, and she also volunteered for many years for the Mission of Deeds.

Marie is survived by two sons, Richard W. Tucker, Jr. and his wife Carolyn of Amesbury, and Robert J. Tucker of Reading; and one daughter, Suzanne M. Gozdiff of Stoneham. She is also survived by one granddaughter, Alexa T. Gozdiff of Stoneham. She was preceded in death by her brother, late Robert W. Nickerson.

A funeral service will be held at the Douglass, Edgerley & Bessom Funeral Home, 25 Sanborn St. in Reading on Monday, March 17 at 10:30 am. Visiting hours will be at the funeral home on Sunday from 2-6 pm. Burial will be at a later date.
