Marie A. (Gordon) Patterson, a resident of Reading for 55 years, formerly of Malden, died on October 13, 2014 at the Wingate of Reading Nursing Facility. She was 81 years of age. Marie was born in Malden, Massachusetts on October 22, 1932, the daughter of the late Robert and Mary (Craven) Gordon. She was raised in Malden and was a graduate of Malden High School. She was a member of the First Congregational Church in Reading. An avid artist, she painted with oil and water colors. She enjoyed attending art classes to further learn her craft. After Marie's husband Robert retired they traveled throughout the country, Alaska and Ireland. She was the beloved wife of the late Robert A. Patterson, Sr. Devoted mother of Karen Lee Brown and her husband Matthew of White Plains, NY and the late Robert A. Patterson, Jr. Cherished sister of Rita Griffin of Billerica and Richard Gordon of Dartmouth. Loving grandmother of Kali and Danika Patterson and David Brown. Former mother in-law of Denise LaChance of Methuen. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, October 18, at the First Congregational Church 25 Woburn St., Reading, at 10 am. Burial will follow at Fox Hill Cemetery, Billerica. There are no visiting hours.
