Margaret I. (Fraser) Gardner, a resident of Reading since 1950, died December 2, 2013 at the Melrose Care Center in Melrose. She was 88 years of age. Margaret was born in Melrose, Massachusetts on March 25, 1925. She was the daughter of the late Arthur and Mary Ann (Campbell) Fraser. Margaret was raised and educated in Medford. She was a graduate of Medford High School and attended business school in Malden. She worked as a bank teller for First National Bank in Malden and retired when she had her children. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Reading. Margaret was the beloved wife of 62 years to Raymond R. Gardner. She was the devoted mother of Stephen F. Gardner of Reading; Gloria Parsons of N. Reading, Raylene Ludgate of Dryden, NY; Sharon Gardner of Salem; Ellen McCarthy of Utah and Cheryl O'Toole of Concord, CA. She was the cherished sister of William Fraser and Andrew Fraser both of Medford; and the late Stanley Fraser; Arthur Fraser; Austin Fraser and Ira Fraser. She was the loving grandmother of 17 and great grandmother of 5. A Funeral Service celebrating her life will be held on Friday, December 6 at 11:00AM at the First Baptist Church 45 Woburn St. in Reading. Visiting hours will be held on Thursday from 4-8PM at the Douglass, Edgerley and Bessom Funeral Home 25 Sanborn St. (corner of Woburn St.), Reading. Burial will be in Charles Lawn Cemetery, Reading.
