Lenore Marie (Watson) Crampe, a resident of Reading for over 65 years, passed away on February 24, 2019 at her home. Lenore was born on September 19, 1930 in Boston. She grew up in Saugus, MA, the daughter of the late John and Catherine Watson.
Lenore worked as a secretary at the National Shawmut Bank in Boston where she met her husband, the late Charles Crampe, Jr.
As a resident of Reading, Lenore joined the Junior Women's Club and truly enjoyed volunteering at the Thrift Shop operated by this organization. Later in life, she joined the Red Hat Society. She regularly attended St. Athanasius Parish of Reading.
Lenore loved hearing the latest news from her grandchildren including their interests in sports, school, and occupations, as well as stories of their travels. Lenore found great pleasure in refinishing furniture, making curtains, and decorating her home. She also generously shared her talents with her children, enjoying nothing better than taking a used item to repurpose into something new.
Lenore was the beloved wife of the late Charles Crampe, Jr. She was truly a devoted mother to Stephen Crampe and his wife Cindy of Reading, Charleen Smotrycz and her husband Zenon of North Reading, and Philip Crampe of Reading. She was the loving grandmother of Erica and Evan Smotrycz, Robert, Emily, Andrew, Derek and Christina Crampe. She was the dear sister of Gail Boivin of Saugus, and Laurence Watson and his wife, Patricia, of Needham. Lenore was the loving aunt to many dear nieces and nephews.
Lenore's funeral will be held from the Douglass, Edgerley & Bessom Funeral Home 25 Sanborn St. (corner of Woburn St.) Reading on Friday, March 1, 2019 at 10:00 am followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Athanasius Church 300 Haverhill St. Reading at 11:00 am.
