John "Jay" L. Crowley II, a lifelong resident of Reading, died October 5, 2016 at the Winchester Hospital. He was 49 years of age. Jay was born in Malden, Massachusetts on February 10, 1967. He was the son of Janet H. (Nilsson) Crowley of Reading and the late John L. Crowley, Sr.

Jay attended Reading schools and graduated from Reading Memorial High School class of 1985. He was an avid music lover and a history buff but his favorite passion was power boat racing which he did as a hobby and professionally.

Jay was the devoted father of Rebecca M. Crowley of Woburn and Sarah K. Crowley of Reading. Loving brother of Jill Crowley Porter and her husband Michael of Scituate. Uncle of Madeleine and Michael Porter. He is also survived by several aunts, uncles and cousins.

A funeral service celebrating his life will be held on Saturday, October 8, at the Douglass, Edgerley and Bessom Funeral Home 25 Sanborn St. (corner of Woburn St.) in Reading at 12 noon. Burial to follow at Wildwood Cemetery in Wilmington. A visitation will be held prior to the service from 10:00am-12 noon.
