John E. Gregorio

December 6th, 1955 – December 23rd, 2019

John E. Gregorio passed away on December 23rd, 2019 at his home, after a lengthy illness. He was the husband of Elizabeth A. (Ryder) Gregorio, with whom he spent 40 years of marriage.

Raised in Reading MA, he was the son of Greg and Helen (Dudley) Gregorio. He attended Reading Public Schools and graduated from Reading High School in 1974. After high school, he went on to work with his dad for many years at Greg's Cleaners in downtown Reading.

John's greatest joy was his family. When the boys were young, he spent most of his time coaching their various Pop Warner and Little League sports teams. No matter which season it was, you could almost always find John on some sort of sports field, whistle & clipboard in hand.

In his later years, John enjoyed various trips to Maine, North Conway and the many BBQ's in the backyard. It was there that John taught his greatest lessons about such things as car maintenance, lawn care and how to enjoy a really good steak.

John was the beloved husband of Elizabeth A. Gregorio of Salem NH. Devoted father of Derek J. Gregorio and his wife Andrea of Merrimack NH, Anthony J. Gregorio of Salem NH, and Christopher R. Gregorio and his loving companion Caroline Buckley of Salem NH. Cherished brother of Cheryl Gresek of Ipswich MA and Kim Gregorio of Kent WA. John also leaves behind a large extended family and great friends.

Visiting hours will be Sunday, December 29th from 4-8pm, with a prayer service at 7pm at the Douglas, Edgerley and Bessom Funeral home. 25 Sanborn Street (corner of Woburn Street), Reading MA. Burial will be private.
