Joann (Donato) Caratelli, a resident of Reading for 45 years, died April 13, 2016 at the Meadow View Center in North Reading. She was 75 years of age. Joann was born in Cambridge, Massachusetts on March 18, 1941 the daughter of the late Dominic and Josephine (Pavone)Donato. She was a member of St. Athanasius Church in Reading. She was employed as a Computer Science Editor for Addison Wesley Publishing Company in Reading. Joann proudly served her country during the Vietnam War serving in the U.S. Navy. Joann was the beloved wife of the late Fernando Caratelli. Devoted mother of Adam Fernando Caratelli of N. Reading & Lisa Marie Splenger and & her husband Mark of Reading. Cherished sister of Frank Donato of Cambridge, Santo Donato of N. Adams, Salvi Donato of Hyde Park, Camella Zaccardo of Stoneham and the late Anthony Donato. Loving aunt of several nieces and nephews. Her funeral will be held funeral from the Douglass, Edgerley & Bessom Funeral Home, 25 Sanborn St. (corner of Woburn St.) Reading on Tuesday April 19 at 9:30 am followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Athanasius Church, 300 Haverhill St., Reading at 10:30 am. Burial in Charles Lawn Cemetery, Reading. There are no visiting hours. In lieu of flowers donations in Joann's memory may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 480 Pleasant St., Watertown, MA 02472.
