(Flanagan) Pattison
Jan 11, 1939 — Feb 9, 2025
Reading
Jane E. (Flanagan) Pattison, a long time resident of Reading, died peacefully with her daughter by her side, on Sunday, February 9,, 2025 at Artis Senior Living of Reading. Jane had been living with Alzheimer's disease for several years and had recently suffered a fall, which contributed to her demise. She was 86 years old.
The daughter of the late Arthur J. and Sarah H. (Horgan) Flanagan, Jane was born in Salem, MA and raised in Peabody, MA. She attended Salem State College and obtained her bachelors degree as well as her masters degree in elementary education. She spent her entire career - almost 40 years - with the Peabody Public Schools system, the majority of which was spent at the Center School teaching third grade.
After her retirement, Jane remained active by volunteering with Winchester Hospital and singing in the choir at St. Agnes Church in Reading. Jane and her husband also spent time traveling to FL during the winter and NH and southern Maine in the summer. Jane was a devout Catholic who was loyal to her church. She also enjoyed reading, crocheting, and music, but above all, she found the greatest joy in connecting with others. In return, she was loved by all for her kind, thoughtful, and caring nature.
Jane was predeceased by her beloved husband, Richard A. Pattison, in 2021. She was a devoted mother to Susan J. Sweeney, her husband Michael and "Mimi" to Aidan Sweeney, all of Tewksbury, MA. Jane was the cherished sister of John Flanagan and his wife Beverly, of Danvers, MA and Arthur Flanagan of Peabody, MA. Sister-in-law of Robert & Claudia Pattison of Burlington, MA and Joan Sheehan of Las Cruces, NM. Jane is also survived by three nieces and two nephews.
Jane's family would like to thank the entire staff of Artis Senior Living of Reading for their compassion, care and support of Jane over the past year.
Jane's funeral will be held from the Douglass, Edgerley and Bessom Funeral Home 25 Sanborn St. (corner of Woburn St.) Reading on Friday, February 14, 2025, at 9:30am followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Agnes Church 186 Woburn St. Reading at 10:30am.
