Irving B. Ruggles, a resident of Reading for 42 years, died February 24, 2016 at the Winchester Hospital. He was 94 years of age. Irving was born in Needham, Massachusetts on April 4, 1921, the son of the late Charles I. and Alice (Barton) Ruggles. He graduated from Northeastern University with a degree in electrical engineering. He was a member of Norfolk Lodge A.F. & A.M. and an active member of the Aleppo Shriners in Wilmington. He was an avid stamp collector and Boston Sports fan. He enjoyed spending his summers at Lake Winnipesaukee. Irving was the beloved husband of Priscilla (Ames) Ruggles. Devoted father of Geoffrey B. Ruggles of Gilford, NH, Cindy A. Pilla and her husband Michael of Andover, and Carolyn A. Upham and her husband Wayne of Townsend. Loving grandfather of Greg, David, Scott, Jessica and John. A Funeral Service celebrating his life will be held on Tuesday March, 1 at the Douglass, Edgerley and Bessom Funeral Home 25 Sanborn St. (corner of Woburn St.) Reading at 11:00am. Burial to follow in Wood End Cemetery Reading. Funeral home visiting hours will be Monday from 4:00-8:00pm.
