Gwendolyn "Gwen" Anne (Jones) Freeman, a resident of Bedford, New Hampshire for the past 12 years, formerly a resident of Reading for 35 years, died at her home on May 29, 2014. She was 81 years of age.

Gwen was born in Everett, Massachusetts on June 10, 1932 the daughter of Leslie and Laura (Milley) Jones. Gwen graduated from secretarial school in Boston and worked as a secretary prior to her marriage. Gwen was a long time member of the Old South United Methodist Church in Reading and was a member of Priscilla Chapter #52 Order of Eastern Star in Reading for 45 years. She was an avid reader and enjoyed attending plays and musicals.

Gwen was the beloved wife of William C. Freeman. Devoted mother of Diane J. Ricci and her husband Michael of North Reading and Donald B. Freeman and his wife Catherine of Salem NH. Loving grandmother of Mark F. Ricci, Michelle E. Ricci and Lcpl Christopher J. Freeman and cherished aunt of Laurel Bunting, Carol Eckenbrecht, William and Debbie Freeman, Robert and Laurie Freeman and Nancie Sparich.

A Funeral Service celebrating Gwen's life will be held on Wednesday, June 4, in the Chapel of the Old South United Methodist Church 6 Salem St., Reading at 11 am. Burial will follow at Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, Peabody. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visiting hours will be held at the Douglass, Edgerley and Bessom Funeral Home 25 Sanborn St. (corner of Woburn St.) Reading on Tuesday from 4-7 pm with an Eastern Star Service given by the officers and members of Pricilla Chapter #52 OES at 7.
