Gail B. (Porter) Elwell, a lifelong resident of Reading, passed away suddenly at her home on October 30, 2024.  She was 85 years of age.

Gail was born in Somerville, Massachusetts on January 26, 1939, the daughter of the late John and Gertrude (Thompson) Porter, and sister of the late Richard and Robert Porter.  Gail grew up and graduated from Reading High School.  She pursued further education at Framingham Union Hospital School of Nursing.  She was a Registered Nurse throughout her career.

Gail was the beloved wife of the late Frank M. Elwell.  Devoted mother of Dawn E. Reynolds and her husband Kirk, Barry D. Elwell, Pamela J. Belkassam all of Reading and the late Scott A. Elwell.  Loving grandmother of Kalvin Reynolds and his wife Abigail of Beverly and Keenan Reynolds and his wife Kendall of Peabody and loving great grandmother of Rowan Reynolds.

A visitation will be held for Gail at the Douglass, Edgerley and Bessom Funeral Home 25 Sanborn St. (corner of Woburn St.) Reading on Monday, November 4, 2024, from 4:00-7:00pm.  Burial is private.  A memorial service will be held at The Church of the Open Bible, 3 Winn St. Burlington MA on Thursday, November 14, 2024 at 7:00 pm
