Frederick E. "Ernie" Livingstone, Sr. a resident of Reading for 69 years died at his home on August 6, 2016. He was 86 years of age.

Ernie was born in Chelsea, Massachusetts on July 18, 1930 the son of the late Frederick E. and Margaret C. (Colbourne) Livingstone. Ernie graduated from Reading High School class of 1949. He was a Reading firefighter for 28 years retiring in 1982. He was an active member of the First Congregational Church in Reading where he served on the building committee. He also served on the board of directors for Peter Sanborn Place in Reading. He was an avid golfer, enjoyed carpentry, roofing and remodeling. Ernie proudly served his country during the Korean War in the U.S. Air Force being honorably discharged with the rank of Airman 2nd Class.

Ernie was the beloved husband of Evilo E. (McGinnis) Livingstone. Devoted father of Frederick E. Livingstone, Jr. and his wife Zuzana of Andover, Debbie L. Ribeiro of Reading, and Tami J. Corkery and her husband Dennis of Nashville TN. Cherished brother of Earle Livingstone and his wife Myrna and Roger Livingstone and his wife June all of Tewksbury and Cindy Hunzelman of FL. Loving grandfather of Leanne Ribeiro, Josef, Thomas, Anna Livingstone, Samuel and Benjamin Corkery.

A funeral service celebrating Ernie's life will be held on Thursday, August 11 at the First Congregational Church 25 Woburn St. in Reading at 11:00am. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visiting hours Wednesday at the Douglass, Edgerley and Bessom Funeral Home 25 Sanborn St. (corner of Woburn St.) Reading from 4:00-8:00pm. Burial is private.
