Evelyn M. (MacLeod) Rex, a lifelong resident of Reading, died December 18, 2014 at the Sawtelle Family Hospice House in Reading. She was 90 years of age.

Evelyn was born in Winchester, Massachusetts on June 15, 1924, the daughter of Everett and Mildred (Richardson) MacLeod. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Reading where she worked as a secretary for several years. She was a 30 year member of the Church Choir and a member of the Reading Choral Society. She loved to travel. She enjoyed traveling to Montreal, Canada, the Maritimes, England, Scotland and Israel.

She was the beloved wife of Robert B. Rex. Devoted mother of Robert A. Rex of Wakefield, Gail and Jean Rex both of Reading, and Robyn Whittier and her husband David of North Reading. Cherished sister of Malcolm MacLeod of Groton, CT. Duncan MacLeod of Canada, Marsha Leighton of Melrose and the late Eleanor Crispo. Loving grandmother of Emily Duran, Paul and Mark Andrick and great grandmother of David Duran.

A funeral service celebrating Evelyn's life will be held on Monday, December 22 at the First Baptist Church 45 Woburn St., Reading at 11:00am. Burial will follow at Wood End Cemetery, Reading. Visiting hours will be held Sunday from 4-7pm at the Douglass, Edgerley and Bessom Funeral Home 25 Sanborn St. (corner of Woburn St.) Reading.
