Ellsworth Fall Whitaker, a resident of Reading for over fifty years, died at the Winchester Hospital on January 9, 2015. He was 93 years of age. Ellsworth was born in Berwick, Maine on March 15, 1921, the son of the late Walter L. and Lena (Fall) Whitaker. Ellsworth was a graduate of University of New Hampshire class of 1942. After graduation he enlisted in the US Army and proudly served his country for over three years during WWII. He was honorably discharged with the rank of 1st Lieutenant. He was a former member of the Meadow Brook Golf Club in Reading and was a member of the Meadow Brook bowling club.

Ellsworth was the beloved husband of the late Virginia L. (Murphy) Whitaker and the late Ethel Richardson. Devoted father of Janice R. Mackenzie and her husband John of Chelmsford, Curtis M. Whitaker of Windsor Locks CT, and Stacey Tinkham and her Husband Gordon, Jr. of Templeton. Loving grandfather of 7 granddaughters and 10 great grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, January 13 at the Douglass, Edgerley and Bessom Funeral Home 25 Sanborn St. (corner of Woburn St.) Reading at 11:00am. Burial to follow at Forest Glen Cemetery, Reading. Funeral home visiting hours will be held Monday from 4-8pm.
