Obituary

Cy Ehrlich, 84, of Reading, Massachusetts passed away peacefully surrounded by family on November 23, 2018. Cy was born in Sharon, Pennsylvania and was the youngest child of Marion (Schumacher) Ehrlich and Theodore Ehrlich. He was predeceased by his brothers, Charles and Paul Ehrlich and sisters, Geraldine Laffan, Clare Bergh and Jeanne Faria. Cy was married to the love of his life, Joan (Fletcher) Ehrlich and celebrated his 61st wedding anniversary in May of 2018. He is survived by his daughter Joan (Ehrlich) Jordan and her husband (Hal) of Rye, NH and two grandsons, Nicholas and his fiancée (Dana) of Chicago, IL and Benjamin and his wife (Tammy) of New York City. After graduating from high school, Cy enlisted in the army and was trained as a helicopter mechanic and was stationed in Ayer, Massachusetts. Following his military service, Cy attended the Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania Aeronautic Institute where he received his degree in aviation mechanics. Cy was hired as a lead mechanic by Northeast Airlines and later, Delta Airlines where he worked for over 35 years.

Cy was a selfless man who would help anyone at any time. He loved to work with his hands and was incredibly talented and meticulous in caring for his beloved home and cars. Anyone driving by the Ehrlich house would see every shrub trimmed and the lawn maintained to perfection. With Cy, there was only one way to do things and that was the right way, even if it had to be redone numerous times. Cy was loved and admired by his many nephews and nieces who have recalled the great influence he had on their lives. He loved to spend time with his grandsons and traveling with his wife Joan on many trips around the globe.
