Barbara Ann Carter, 68, of Reading passed away unexpectedly on August 7, 2015. Born in Springfield MA to the late William and Florence Carter, she grew up in East Longmeadow MA. She was beloved sister of Nancy Rosenthal of Orleans MA and devoted aunt to her niece and husband, Nicole and George Fraser of Duxbury and their children Bennett and Teddy.

A graduate of the MGH School of Nursing, Barbara completed her bachelor's degree from Emmanuel College. She loved being a nurse, giving tirelessly to patients and families during a career in bedside nursing, supervision and administration at Massachusetts General Hospital, spanning forty-five years. If nursing was her vocation, cooking was her avocation. She knew all things cooking and was never happier than when feeding friends and family.

Mostly though, family and cherished friends will remember her generosity, loving kindness and no nonsense approach to all life had to offer. They will miss her never ending bravery in face of illness and her belief in a better tomorrow.
