Obituary

Arthur R. Nigro passed away peacefully on August 21, 2015. He was 88 years of age. He was the son of the late Frank and Carmella Maria (Todisco) Nigro of Charlestown, where he grew up on 32 Austin Street. Upon graduating from Boston Technical High School in 1944, Arthur entered the army and did basic training in Spartanburg, SC. After basic training he was stationed in France, Luxenbourg, Belgium and Germany. His job in the army entailed postal work and information processing. He ultimately worked for three companies, the 1st, 3rd and 9th infantry. While in Germany he entertained troops by playing drums in a band on weekends at the NCO club. He served his country for 22 months and was honorably discharged out of Fort Dix.

Arthur married his first wife Agnes (Denaro) in 1952 and had three children. They lived a short time in Somerville and then settled in Reading where he raised his family. After Agnes passed away in 1977, Arthur found love again and married Rosemary DiStasio in 1986.
After a successful career as an electrician for the J.M. Brown Company and forever a proud member of the local IBEW 103 Electrical Union, Arthur retired. Arthur spent summers in Reading and his winters in North Port, FL. During his retirement, Arthur loved to help out his children and step children with their electrical needs. He was our "on call" electrician. Arthur was also a very talented tradesman who loved to tinker and could fix anything.

The family would like to extend their appreciation to the staff at Wingate in Reading for their compassion and care during this difficult time.

Arthur is survived by his current wife Rosemary, his sons Paul A. (Beverly) of Ossipee, NH, Arthur R. (Teresa) of Hopkinton, and daughter Joanne N. (Len) of Beverly. His grandchildren, Nicholas A. Nigro (Vera) of Worcester, Alexandra Termini (Matthew) of Marlborough, Ryan and Christopher (CJ) Flannery . His step children Theresa Maggiore (Joseph) of Medford, Matthew DiStasio (Bonnie) of Wakefield, Paul DiStasio (Lisa) of Danvers and Raymond of Maine. His step grandchildren Matthew, Michael, Mark, Gina, Anthony, Jacky, Olivia, and Dominic. Arthur was pre-deceased by his siblings, Elmer P (Nellie) of Wakefield, Joseph (Helen) of Everett, V. James (Marion) of Stoneham, Blanche Maglio (Ralph) of Westwood, Frank (Elizabeth) of Wilmington and Albert of Stoneham.
