Arline M. (Vietheer) Basner, a longtime resident of Reading, died in Winslow Township, New Jersey on October 2, 2018. She was 96 years of age.

Arline was born on September 14, 1922 in Petaluma, California the daughter of Albert and Myrtle (Eden) Vietheer.  Arline was a member of the Old South United Methodist Church in Reading.  She volunteered at the Veterans Hospital in Bedford and was a member of both the Reading Women's Club and the Reading Garden Club.

She was the beloved wife of the late Frederick W. Basner.  Devoted mother of Charles E. Basner of Berlin, NJ, and the late John W. and Fred A. Basner.  Loving grandmother of Charles W. Basner and his wife Jessie and Joy Shaffer and her husband Chad.  Loving great grandmother Thad, Ellen and Owen.  Sister of the late Albert C. Vietheer and Gladys Menchen.  A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, October 13, 2018 at the Old South United Methodist Church 6 Salem St. in Reading at 11:00am.  Burial is private and there are no visiting hours.
